Hello, it's nice to meet you

ODD HOUZ combines a passion for iconic mid century design with our own contemporary style. We offer a collection of homeware items that are designed and manufactured by us in our Durban based studio, as well as a curated selection of restored retro furniture and decor pieces. Our philosophy is founded upon considered design and exceptional quality, as we believe the pieces in a home should spark joy in those that inhabit it.

The name ODD HOUZ speaks to our intention to defy the ordinary. We take a unique and unconventional approach to design to create a brand that is distinct.

We look forward to growing our product offering and continuing to develop our range of homeware products.

David

Co-Founder

David has an innate passion for beautiful objects and a fascination in how they come together to create spaces that positively impact those that inhabit them. He began his career working at a luxury hotel, which opened his eyes to the world of beautiful interiors and remains a source of inspiration. With an artistic flair and a keen eye for detail, David helps to refine ideas to finished products while also heading the ceramic division of the studio.

"Design should be flexible - I think it’s more valuable to focus on pieces that bring you joy and create a space that you feel good in, rather than steadfastly stick to a specific style."

Ryan

Co-Founder

Ryan has an obsession with 20th century furniture design and appreciates how many of the iconic pieces never go out of style. Having studied art at school, followed by a BA interior design at Vega, Ryan has developed his skills in design and has an invaluable ability to conceptualize creative ideas. Ryan launched KUTER HOUZ in 2021 to explore his passion for furniture design and showcase his contemporary and eclectic taste. He continues this journey with ODD HOUZ, hoping to expand into new directions.

“I have a fun and quirky approach to design - I think having a home full of pieces that tell a story and spark real joy in you is so important.”
